2010 Spirit of Peace Honorees: Four Arts Specialists from Four Seasons A+ Elementary School in Saint Paul

Four Seasons was one of the first three schools to work with Partners for Violence Prevention over 12
years ago. Four Seasons’ staff work hard promoting peace in the classrooms, in the hallways, on the
playground and in the community at large.
 
These remarkable teachers consistently create and plan opportunities for students to practice the skills
of cooperation, problem solving, perseverance and responsibility. These skills are nurtured in daily arts
lessons as well as in the annual all-school summer musical.
 
Students learn important skills that help with positive relationships in the future. Older students learn to
mentor and younger students can’t wait to grow into a more leading role in the years ahead. Students
learn about collaboration and partnerships. Students take risks promoting their own ideas and creative
talent and are respectful of others, understanding that everyone has an important contribution to make.
Whatever you bring as a person is honored and respected.
 
The arts model of teaching along with the outstanding talents and dedication of these four educators
creates a truly successful and unique climate for student learning. We are pleased to give Darrell
Baggenstoss, Sidney Pudwill, Patrice Cassil and Ahna Logan the 2010 Spirit of Peace award, to honor
them for their creative efforts in promoting peace to many young people over the years.
